If you happened to have viewed the website calendar for August 2022 you may have noticed some new entries for Saturday mornings
During July, lay ministers from the parish (i.e. Barryroe and Courtmacsherry churches) attended training sessions provided by Maura O’Flynn, Michael O'Leary and Father Dave O’Connell. A pilot scheme will be implemented replacing the 9:30am Saturday morning Mass at Barryroe church during August with a Lay Led Liturgy. Although this is a new venture for the parish, lay led liturgy has been common practice for some years in other churches in the diocese. Whilst a liturgy not led by a priest may seem a radical thought Father Dave reminded us that by baptism people of faith empowered with the Holy Spirit are called to serve God and proclaim the good news.
Please pray for the lay ministers that they may be encouraged and granted blessings of the Holy Spirit with this new endeavour.
