On Monday 30 March 2026 the website at barryroe.ie will close

The priests of the Family of Parishes have been discussing the online presence of the six parishes. They state "we are very aware of the call from the bishop to share resources, to build sustainable ways of ministry across the parishes in the light of falling budgets and to engage parishioners more in the mission of the Church locally."  The following steps are to be implemented:

One website

From 30 March 2026 the six parishes will be served by the one website at onefaith.ie. Any visitors to barryroe.ie will automatically be forwarded to that website.

Social Media

Social media platforms for individual parishes are to close and people will be invited to follow a new Family of Parishes Facebook Page.  Therfore the Facebook Page at @BarryroeParish will be closed.

Live Stream Masses

Live Stream Masses will continue to be available from Clonakilty and Rosscarbery only. The last livestream Mass from Barryroe will take place on Sunday 15 March 2026.  Requiem Masses for funerals will continue as requested by families and Funeral Directors.

End of an Era

The website at barryroe.ie was launched on Tuesday 17 March 2020 as a response to the COVID pandemic and featured the first livestream from Fr Dave O'Connell broadcast from an upper room of the presbytery on the feast of Saint Patrick. As the website developed it included:

  • A rota system for welcoming stewards to assist with distanced seating
  • Video instructions on the Act of Spiritual Communion and When you cannot attend a funeral
  • Recordings of the Mysteries of the Rosary
  • A section for Reflection, Meditation and Prayer
  • A resource for the Choir to learn their individual parts of the sung liturgy
  • An online facility to request dates for Baptism and Marriage
  • An Email subscription service to receive featured articles and notices direct to email
