Applications are invited for a part-time role as Parish Secretary based in Clonakilty Parish
The hours will be Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 1.30pm.
The successful candidate will work closely with the team of priests serving the six parishes of our family of parishes and will assist in meeting the administrative needs of the parishes as well as responding to inquiries from parishioners.
We’re looking for a person who is excited by serving others, a good organiser, flexible and discreet and gets on well with people in a variety of situations. A reasonable familiarity with the the daily life of a parish is an advantage.
Essential skills: Clear communication, very good with people and with IT, diary management, filing and recording.

As our family of parishes evolves, this role will expand to meet the secretarial needs of the six parishes.
- General Administration
- Record-keeping, ordering church supplies, maintain office environment
- Answer communications by phone, email, social media
- Managing communication with parishioners by post and email, etc.
- Managing bookings
- Responding to requests for baptism, marriage and Mass bookings
- Linking with priests regarding Mass intentions
- Religious matters
- Selling and signing Mass cards and booking the Masses
- Weekly Newsletter
- Receiving and editing notes for weekly newsletter
- Layout and design newsletter
- Print the Newsletter in the office
- Sacramental Records
- Record the celebration of the sacraments in the parish registers both in print and on computer
- Issue sacramental certificates when requested
- Online
- Help update parish website, social media platforms
- Compliance
- Assist in processing Garda vetting applications for parishes
- Assist in maintaining compliance with the GDPR
